Bishop Williams is a graduate of Livingstone College and the Hood Theological Seminary



His pastorates included; Steward Chapel and Hayden Grove Circuit, North Carolina, Snow Hill A.M.E. Zion Church, Newton, NC; Wardell Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church, Shelby, NC; Durhamm Memorial and Shaw Memorial A.M.E. Zion Church, Buffalo, NY; and Big Zion A.M.E. Zion Church, Mobile, Alabama. Bishop Williams was elected the 82nd bishop of the AME Zion Church at the 43rd General Conference.



Bishop Williams has served the AME Zion Church on the Board of Trustees at Livingstone College, as well as chair of the board of Christian Education (Home and Church), chair of the Connectional Trustee Board; first vice chairman of the Board of Evangelism, and first vice chairman of the Board of Statistics and Records of the AME Zion Church. He was a life member of the NAACP and a life patron of the Women 's Home and Overseas Missionary Society of the AME Zion Church. He was also a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc.
