Bishop Bishop is a graduate of Knoxville College, Knoxville, Tennessee where he received an A.B. degree. He earned a Master of Divinity degree from Howard University School of Religion and a S.T.M. from Wesley Theological Seminary. In 1981, Bishop Bishop delivered papers on �Sermon and Prayer Preparation� to the New Jersey Conference and on �Merging for Missions� to bishops of the Christian Methodist Episcopal and AME Zion churches. In 1986 he was invited to preach at the World Methodist Conference in Nairobi, Kenya.

His pastorates included Center Grove AME Zion, Tobaccoville, NC; assistant pastor, John Wesley, Washington, D.C.; Clinton AME Zion, Rockville, Maryland; Trinity AME Zion, Greensboro, NC and pastor, John Wesley in Washington. He was elected 78th Bishop in succession in the AME Zion Church on July, 1980 and retired from service July, 2000.

He served in
leadership
positions on
several
boards of
the A. M. E.
Zion Church
and with
ecumenical
organizations
representing
the Church.
In
retirement,
he serves as
vice
chairman of
the Family
Social
Service
Board in
Charlotte
and is the
board chair
of Faith
Partnership,
Inc. located
in Raleigh,
NC. He made
a note to
let us know
that he is
enjoying
immensely
his two
children as
they grow
through
their
teenage
years.
