Attended George Washington Carver High School; 1967, graduated from Clinton Junior College, Rock Hill, SC; received B.A. degree from Livingstone College, Salisbury, NC in 1969; M. Div. from Hood Theological Seminary in 1972; D. Min. from Howard University School of Divinity in 1990.



His pastorates include Center Grove Circuit, Tobaccoville, NC, November 1966; Mt. Vernon Circuit, Statesville, NC, December 1966; Foundation Tabernacle Circuit, 1968-72; Mt. Zion, Lancaster, SC, 1972-74; and Gethsemane, Charlotte, NC, 1972-92. Elected Bishop by the 44th General Conference as 84th Bishop in the A.M.E. Zion Church.



Elected to the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education in 1978; served as President of Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education from 1990-1995, when we resigned because of his duties as a bishop.
