Reverend Armstrong served at pastoral charges including: Western North Carolina Conference; Western New York Conference at Binghamton, New York; Blue Ridge Conference at Asheville, North Carolina; New Jersey Conference at Hackensack, New Jersey; New England Conference at New Britain, Connecticut; South Carolina Conferences.
Other work experiences include: Director of Community Organization, Opportunity for Broome, Inc.; Allen High School (School of Girls
operated under the auspices of the Board of Missions of the United Methodist Church), Asheville, NC, duties consisted of instructing courses in: Theology,
Church History, Bible Literature and Comparative Religion; Hood Theological Seminary, Assistant Professor of Practical Theology, duties consisted of
instruction in Homiletics, Christian Education, Evangelism and Church Administration; Bergen County Community Action Program, Social Services Director.
Purpose
The purpose of the Department of the Historical Society and Editor of the Quarterly Review is to stimulate and
encourage interest in the history of the AME Zion Church, at every level, and promote the study and preservation of the history of the church.
It is to conduct workshops, seminars, training sessions and lecture, publish and distribute materials which will enable effective operations at every
level of the Church.
