Bishop Roy Holmes, Presiding Prelate of the Mid-West Episcopal District in articulating the Board’s Quadrennial Report stated as an addendum a Statement of the church’s position on same-sex marriage.

The church, Bishop Holmes stated unequivocally, believes marriage is between a man and a woman dashing any thought that the church would side with President Barack Obama who recently stated his position as “marriage equality”.

The bishop did add, however, the note that on many other issues, health care and college tuition support among them, the church does find significant agreement with the president.

A motion from the floor by Dr. J. Elvin Sadler, a delegate from the Piedmont Episcopal District, requested the above noted addendum along with the full Bishop’s Quadrennial Address be made available as a pdf file for downloading on corporate website Attached is that full Quadrennial Address and the Board’s Statement on the church’s position on same-sex marriage.
