HYBRID COURSES

HYBRID COURSES TO BE OFFERED IN 2017

Hood Theological Seminary will launch two elective courses in hybrid format in the spring semester, 2017; one in Area III, Systematic Theology, offered by Trevor Eppehimer and one in Area IV, Pastoral Theology, offered by Dr. Andre Resner. This new venture in hybrid educational delivery seeks to make theological education more accessible and convenient for our varied student constituencies while maintaining a high level of quality instruction, rigorous scholarship, and formative experiences.

A hybrid format describes a course delivery where part of the class meets face-to-face on campus and part is online. HTS is committed to quality theological education that does not compromise the essential personal and human element in the teaching and learning process.

New technologies and sophisticated online learning management systems now allow us to effectively engage in learning modules by means of the Internet. More than 50% of each class will, however, still be offered on campus in once-per-month meetings. During those meetings, classes will be held, meals will be shared, worship will take place in the seminary chapel, and students will make use of our library and writing center resources while staying in our on-campus housing.
