Livingstone College is heading back to the CIAA championship game!
The Blue Bears outlasted Fayetteville State 79-73 in the semifinals Friday at Time Warner Cable Arena to advance to the title contest for the third straight year. They’ll take on Winston-Salem State, which defeated Johnson C. Smith 78-71, for a chance at the school’s first tournament championship.

Livingstone (20-7) led by as many as 13 points in the second half, only to have Fayetteville State (19-10) storm back to take a 67-62 lead on Tyrell Tate’s jumper with 6:39 left. The Blue Bears reasserted themselves with a 17-6 run to close the game.

Mark Thomas, the CIAA’s player of the year, led all scorers with 28 points, followed by Jody Hill’s 14 and Eric Mayo with 10. Tate paced the Broncos with 19 points, followed by Joshua Dawson with 13.
