| GENERAL CONFERENCE MAKES CHANGES TO GENERAL OFFICER STAFF |

With the retirement of two general officers and the recent passing of another, the Conference sought to fill those positions and decide on several more that were contested. Below is a listing of what the outcomes were after the voting on Friday night: General Secretary-Auditor Dr. W. Robert Johnson III returns for what he terms his last four years of service in this position. Chief Financial Officer Mrs. Shirley Welch retains her position as it was not contested. Director of Evangelism Dr. Otis T. McMillian retains his position as it was not contested. Secretary, Christian Education Reverend Kathy Brown fills this position with the retirement of Dr. Raymon Hunt Editor, Church School Literature Dr. Mary A. Love retains her position as it was not contested. Editor, Star of Zion Mrs. Addie Lisby fills this position with the recent passing of her husband and long time Editor of the Star, Mr. Michael Lisby Secretary-Treasurer, Overseas Missions/Editor, Missionary Seer Dr. Kermit J. DeGraffenreidt retains his position as it was not contested. Editor, Quarterly Review/Secretary, Historical Society Reverend Dr. William McKenith fills this position with the retirement of Dr. James Armstrong. Dr. McKenith is out of the New Jersey Conference of Mid-Atlantic I Episcopal District. Secretary-Treasurer, Brotherhood Pensions Mr. David Aiken, former President of the Connectional Lay Council takes over this position. Secretary-Treasurer, Church Extension and Home Missions This position, by the approval of the General Conference, is slated to be merged under the Bureau of Evangelism with a new departmental name. Reverend Terrance Jones will retain his position as it was not contested, however, Reverend Jones, under this new structure will report to the Director of Evangelism. Director, Department of Health and Social Concerns Dr. Bernard Sullivan retains his position. Director, Public Affairs Reverend George E. McKain II retains his position as it was not contested. |
